Build, Connect, Grow
Thanks to EU funding and coordination, the building blocks of new digital services, such as eProcurement, eID, business mobility, and even electronic patient records, have already been developed. These are the results of five Large Scale Pilot Projects (LSPs): e-CODEX (eJustice), epSOS (eHealth), STORK (eID), PEPPOL (eProcurement) and SPOCS (eBusiness). As Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda for Europe, says: "LSPs are the building blocks of our strategy to build, connect and grow. We have already done the hard part of building national eGovernment systems. Now we need to take the next step, and connect those systems so that the benefits of eGovernment can be enjoyed by all citizens regardless of their country of origin." reinforced coordination and cooperation between the projects themselves by regular coordination meetings, launch of a study on the sustainability of the LSPs, launch of Many actions and initiatives have taken place: a series of technical validation meetings with ICT industry to validate the technical solutions of the LSPs and introducing the LSPs to the CEF (chapter "Digital Services") to ensure financial sustainability for the roll out of their solutions
Rationale of the LSPs' "Roadshow: Build, Connect, Grow":
- A "Roadshow" was launched with a series of events, which all aim to raise the awareness for and enhance the visibility of achievements and benefits of the five current LSPs.
-
-
Target audiences of the "Roadshow" events:
- High level political decision-makers in the Member States to ensure political and financial support and commitment for the further roll-out.
- The IT industry and relevant standardisation bodies to ensure that the LSP solutions are taken up and
- Users to guarantee the take-up and actual use of the services.
-
- A "Roadshow" event does not have a fixed format or timing and can be adapted to various types of IT- or eGovernment-events.
-
- For recognition value re-usable elements exist:
-
Common visual identity and recognizable slogan (e.g. "making justice faster" (e-CODEX) or "making business easier" (SPOCS)) for all LSPs as well as an umbrella slogan "Build, Connect, Grow" were created together with corresponding promotional material (big Lego bricks, roll-ups, seating cubes, gadgets etc.).
-
One issue of the "research*eu"-magazine was exclusively dedicated to the LSPs
-
A webzine with four issues in 2012 was launched
-
-
Usually a "Roadshow"- event/stop is an exhibition stand where LSPs demonstrate their results by using the common promotional material. It might be accompanied by speeches, discussions and other activities depending on the respective event.
