Simple effective innovation will facilitate the lives of citizens and businesses in the Union! Five EU co-funded projects (PEPPOL, SPOCS, STORK, eCODEX, epSOS) are demonstrating how innovative ICT services can contribute to citizen and business mobility and invite Member States, industry and business representatives to their 4th event of the LSP Roadshow which will be realized in the framework of the 7th PEPPOL conference (Rome, May 29-30 2012)

The LSP Roadshow is a stream of events parallel to ongoing dissemination activities of the LSPs and building on specific actions in the e-Government action plan and Digital Agenda. It consists of building blocks coming from the different Large Scale Pilots, presented under one logo and message –"LSP LEGO".

The 7th PEPPOL conference will provide insight into the results and the future follow-up of the PEPPOL project. Interested parties will be provided with examples of pilot achievements and other first-hand information about PEPPOL. As part of the Large Scale Pilot projects (LSPs) of the European Commission, PEPPOL is building the basis for seamless cross-border eGovernment services in the single market, to realise the goals of the Digital Agenda for Europe.

Starting a new business, studying, receiving medical care, participating in tenders or solving legal issues in another EU Member State can be simplified with the help of these innovative ICT services. Solutions are built on top of available national/regional infrastructures and allow smooth exchange and sharing of data to easily access the services.

As Neelie Kroes Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda stated during the CeBIT conference “The Digital revolution presents a new puzzle for European integration. Until recently, individual Member States have developed national eGovernment systems in isolation, unwittingly creating new digital borders where physical ones had long since disappeared. We now aim to tear down these barriers. So that citizens and businesses can access services seamlessly across borders making the most of Europe's physical and Digital Single Market. To do so, we must connect our existing, disparate national systems. The EU and Member States are developing a set of building blocks to provide on-line cross border services in key areas such as eProcurement, eID, business mobility, eJustice and electronic patient records.”

Thanks to EU funding and coordination, the building blocks of new digital services, such as eProcurement, eID, business mobility, and even electronic patient records, have already been developed. These are the results of five Large Scale Pilot Projects (LSPs): e-CODEX (eJustice), epSOS (eHealth), STORK (eID), PEPPOL (eProcurement) and SPOCS (eBusiness). They are the cornerstone for implementing common solutions to deliver online public services and make them accessible throughout Europe.
